Galena Illinois Car Show
Mark your calendars for June 2 – 5.  That’s the date of the Generals’ Cruiz-In Car Show in Galena Il. Four days of street rods, muscle cars, and classics will be on display.  Staying at The Steamboat House, a Galena Bed and Breakfast, is a perfect way to maximize your stay.  Walk to town and to the show from Galena’s most convenient location, and guest parking in our offstreet lot is a plus.   If you are driving a special car to Galena for the show, we will even provide covered parking for you.

Galena Il Bed and Breakfast hosts Book Club
Many special visitors were in Galena this week.  A wonderful group of six ladies — a book club — stayed with us for 3 days and they were fun (and busy).  These ladies enjoyed Galena tours, the winery, Mark Twain, the bead bar, and Tarot readings!

Weekend Galena events
Hi everyone.   Another favorite event for visitors to Galena is the Art Festival, which is this weekend — August 14 & 15 — at the Old Market House.  Local artists will display their wares in a historically-inspired setting.  It’s promising to be a beautiful day in Galena.
Also this weekend is the continuing grand opening of the Galena Brewery!  (http://www.galenabrewery.com) Stop by and enjoy a cold one amid a day of shopping at the many sidewalk sales!
Looking for some Galena entertainment?  The Galena Art Theater invites you to experience ythe golden age of radio.  Three cases are told by the famous Dr. Watson. Tickets are available at the door at historic Turner Hall. (http://www.TurnerHall.com) The theater presentation is August 13 & 14 at 7:30 p.m.
Docent-guided tours of the Galena History Museum will also be offered this weekend. () Stop in and make sure to take in the 2 short movies about Galena’s history.  You’ll learn about Daniel Smith Harris, who built The Steamboat House in 1855, and who was one of the most legendary steamboat captains on the Mississippi, and you’ll learn about the connection between Abraham Lincoln and Galena in a short narrated film (which shows Lincoln speaking from the library in The Steamboat House! (http://www.thesteamboathouse.com/galena-illinois-lodging-photo-gallery.html)
